“Marriage 💗 A sacred ceremony”💗 Princess Bride

Updated: Jun 21, 2019

We both are human, meaning imperfect. Over 23 years our imperfections have hurt us and our loved ones and almost ended our marriage. 😢

Last week our garden at home was the most beautiful it has ever been. Our yard was as Scott said “there isn’t a more beautiful place in the world”🌸 and we have seen beautiful places. I commented to him that it was perfect timing for our yard to be in full bloom and full of color in all its glory because it matched perfectly our life. We are a living Garden of Grace and we are full of blessings and love. We have healed from hurts, over come obstacles, learned to love one another💗 and become best friends. We are blessed to be at a good place in our lives🤞🏻

A week ago I had an overwhelming new thought in my heart. I ran home and shared it with Scott.

For any one who knows us you know we are polar opposites. Which is a good and good (not bad 😂now😉) thing, often I felt Scott would be happy living in the county, having a country wife not an artsy wife, I felt he would rather be traveling the world then home making traditions, that he would rather have a quite wife then a verbal spunky passionate wife. Finally it occurred to me just last week that he is happy being my husband, supporting me, making my dreams happen, watching me bloom and fulfill my callings, he genuinely loves to serve me and love me and make me happy. His life isn’t about being a doctor, being a missionary, living on a dude ranch, living in a log cabin. He seriously and genuinely chose me. He chose me over all his dreams and is happy to have me be happy. Whatever idea I dream up he helps me achieve it. I want a fire pit he helps me get the big slabs of granite I want for benches. I want to add flowers or add a haint blue ceiling to my patios he helps me pick the paint. I am off to serve at the homeless shelter he makes me dinner when I get home. I work with young women he helps me pick out their gifts to bring home to them when I travel. I want to host a garden party with women in our church he mows and shovels poop. He loves anything I paint, I make, even anything I cook🤦‍♀️ he makes my dreams happen. I serve all over our community and He is my back bone that Lightens my load and helps me keep going the extra mile.

So here is the deal. If your marriage is dark, if you aren’t happy, if you feel your spouse is a jerk. I hear you. I have been there. For good reasons at times too🤷‍♀️ Then something happened. I stopped worrying about anything he did to offend me or break our commitment and started committing to be the wife I dreamt of being to the perfect dream husband. Regardless of his behavior I was praying every morning to be the best wife I could be and every night praying to know how I could be a better wife. Boy did I get corrected with the spirit on small things I wasn’t even aware I was doing. For five years I kept this commitment while honestly my husband wasn’t his best self. Then we went to a marriage retreat and his heart was changed and he committed whole heartedly to me and has never looked back and man did I hit the jack pot💗

We have our weekly business meetings, we talk about our issues weekly, and we have our weekly date. It is awesome being married to my best friend. He says I loved him through his pain and loved him long enough and never gave up when I could have and it brought him back to being his best self. (He came from a painful divorce that traumatized him not just his ex wife cheating on him but loosing his sons that were his life.) He was damaged. I came from abuse and I was damaged.

With a lot of work, a lot of miracles, and with GRACE we have made it. We are a miracle and as we sat in our flower garden last week we both recognized the beauty of our yard and home was a mere reflection of the beauty of our marriage and as individuals.

Moral of the story see the best in each other. Focus on yourself regardless of your spouses behavior. Love love love!!!💗💗💗 above all else LOVE. Pride and justification destroy self worth and others. Seek after Light and be the Light. I can honestly say my hubby was worth the patience and heart break. I know he knows I was worth all the pain I caused.

He chose to love me whole heartedly and what more can a girl wish for🤷‍♀️💗 with all our imperfections we are perfect for each other because we love whole heartedly 💗❤️💗

side note. This pic of Kings Peak is just another dream Scott made happen for me 😄 the pic of the quote of our bed is a reminder of one of the best compliments in our marriage. We CHOOSE each other😘😘
